AutoCAD Command Shortcuts

Well....

It's my first posting on my blog.

It will be humble...with incorrect grammar, improper words and terms mistakes.

However, I think It will be better than doing noting, I expect that I will find myself making progress one day in the future while I'm recording what I have an interest in and learn from them.

Anyway, Let's start.

Today topic is basic command in using CAD.

I will follow some examples with commands we often use in AutoCAD and draw a draft.

1. POLYGON, POL

Order : POL ⇒ Enter number of sides : 6 ⇒ specify center of polygon or [Edge] : E
             ⇒ Specify first endpoint of edge : (0, 0) ⇒ Specify first endpoint of edge : 1200

2. LINE, L

Order : L ⇒ Click an edge to bisect the polygon. (cf. OSNAP, OS, F3) ⇒ Click an edge on the opposite side.

3. ROTATE, RO

Order : RO ⇒ Select object "click" ⇒ space bar⇒ Select base point "Midpoint" ⇒Specify rotation angle or [Copy Reference] : C, 60, 120(angle)

4. OFFSET, O

Order : O ⇒ Specify offset distance : 600 ⇒ Select object to offset : Click the polygon ⇒ Move the point of mouse inside toward the centre of the polygon.

5. TRIM, TR

Order : TR ⇒ Select the small polygon inside ⇒ Space bar ⇒ Drag or select parts unnecessary ⇒ Space bar.

6. FILLET, F

Order : F ⇒ R (to set radius of round of edge) ⇒  Specify fillet radius : 600 ⇒  Select first object and second object , apply to every edge on the polygon.

7. TRIM, TR

Order : Ctrl + A (Select all object) ⇒ TR ⇒ Space bar ⇒ Select unnecessary parts to remove.

In addition, fillet the small polygon inside as we did above.

8. EXTEND, EX

Order : EX ⇒ Select object which can be a border ⇒ Space bar ⇒Select second object which can be extended.

9. HATCH, H : Applying a pattern to selected areas.

Order : H ⇒ Select a pattern from the ribbon ⇒ Change hatch pattern scale from 0 to 10 ⇒ Apply to areas with changing angle of hatch. (60, 120 from the Angle sector)

10. RECTANG, REC

Order : Draw a line(100) on the center of the top ⇒ REC ⇒Set a length of rectangle as 400, 400 ⇒ Fillet the edges with R(40)

⇒ REC ⇒ Make a rectangle with length 400, 100, cutting the edges (R 40)
⇒ REC ⇒ Make a rectangle with length 50, 300

11. MOVE, M

Order : M ⇒ Select objects ⇒ Specify base point : midpoint ⇒ Drag the object to where you want to move.

11. MIRROR, MI

Order : MI ⇒ Set the first and second points of symmetry axis ⇒ Erase source object : Yes or No (choose)

12. BLOCK, B (↔EXPLODE, X)

Order : B ⇒ Name : CHAIR ⇒ Select objects ⇒ Designate parts dragging a cursor to bind parts together ⇒ Pick insertion base point which can be a point of the block.

13. ARRAY, AR ( Rectangular Array, Path Array, Polar Array)

Order : AR ⇒ Select Polar Array ⇒ Select objects ⇒ Click the center of Polar Array

Set a Block as above

※ Block editor : BEDIT, BE

Order : Insert ⇒ Block editor or "BE" ⇒ Edit ⇒ Close Block editor.

※ MATCHPROP, MA

By using this function, we can easily modify a design and parts.

The end for Today!!!
